Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of think aloud pair problem solving (TAPPS) to improve students’ listening skill with different motivation at the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Welahan. A factorial design was used in this study. The population of this study were the eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Welahan consist of 279 students. The sample was 69 students which were taken by using purposive technique sampling. The data was collected by giving listening test. The calculation was done by using SPSS 25. Based on the data analysis, the result of this study showed that Ha (alternative hypothesis) was rejected because the impact of student listening scores with learning strategy does not depend on the level of student motivation.H0 (null hypothesis) was accepted because the impact of student listening scores with learning strategy depend on the level of student motivation. The total mean score of experimental class was 69,94 while the total mean score of control class was 71,85. While the total mean score of experimental class was 78,08 while the total mean score of control class was 76,23. There was differences between pretest and posttest scores but not influenced by teaching strategy. The result of sample F-test in the experimental research in post test showed that the value of F-test < F-table (0,259<3,30) so the conclusion was think aloud pair problem solving (TAPPS) could not improve the students’ listening skill with different motivation at the eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Welahan in the academic year 2020/2021.
