This study focused on the phenomenon occured in the class during the process of teaching English by using Fishbowl technique. The objective of this study was to find the students’s problem in learning vocabulary and to know whether Fishbowl technique can be choosen in teaching English vocabulary. The population of the study was fifth grade students of MI Tsamrotul Huda in the academic year of 2017/2018. The number of population was 24 students.

The research method was descriptive study. The researcher used three points of data collection, they were: observation, interview and questionaires. The aim of observation was to know the process of learning English vocabulary by using Fishbowl technique. The purpose of the interview for the teacher was to know teacher’s skill in using Fishbowl and the way to implement it during the process of learning English vocabulary in the classroom, while the questionaires was conducted to know the students’ response about Fishbowl. The technique of data analysis of this research were consist of data reduction, data display and conclusion.

Based on the result, the researcher gained some conclusions, they were: (1) students were more enthusiastic and active in learning English vocabulary toward Fishbowl. (2) the teacher implemented the fishbowl technique well, attractive and understandable. Therefore, the researcher suggested to the teacher to use Fishbowl technique when teaching English vocabulary.
