Abstract

This research was entitled The Use of Project Based Learning through Video Vlog to Improve Speaking Skill in Descriptive Text for the Tenth Grade Students of SMA N 1 Pecangaan. The aim of this research was to find out whether the use of Project Based Learning through video vlog to improve speaking skill in descriptive text. This research was true experimental design used Pretest-Posttest control group Design. One group was treated as the experimental group taught by using Project-based Learning through Video Vlog and other group was treated as control group taught by using Project-based Learning method . The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Pecangaan which consisted of 393 students. The samples of the research consisted of 72 students which were taken by using simple random sampling, X-IPA 4 consisted of 36 students as experimental group and X-IPA 3 consisted of 36 students as control group. There were two variables in this research. They were Project-based Learning through Video Vlog as the independent variable and students’ speaking skill in descriptive text as the dependent variable. The instrument of this research was oral test. In experimental class, the mean score of pre-test (70,11) and the post-test (76,83) was greater than the mean score in controlled class (64,83) in pre-test and the post-test (73,00) From the t-test, the researcher found that the value of the t-test in the post test was higher than the t-table (3.361 > 1.994). Based on the findings and the discussion of the research, the researcher concluded that the use of Project-based Learning was effective to improve the students’ speaking skill in descriptive text for the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Pecangaan.
