Abstract

through Sparkol Videoscribe, it can improve students' reading skills in narrative texts in the eleventh grade of MA Matholi'ul Huda Bugel for the 2020/2021 school year. This study uses a true experimental design, precisely pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all students in the eleventh grade of MA Matholi'ul Huda bugel which consisted of 351 students. The sample used is class XI IPS 3 and XI Religion 3 which consists of 37 students. Samples were taken using simple random sampling. The instruments used in this research are interviews and tests. The test results in the experimental class were for the pretest the average value was 55.00 and for the posttest was 76.89. As for the control class, the average score for the pretest was 54.05 and for the posttest was 72.16. The result of the t-test was 0.032 with a significance level of 0.05. This indicates that the value of sig (2-tailed) is lower than 0.05. This means that there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Then from the interview results, students are more interested and comfortable learning English using Story Face. Moreover, using Story Face can help them to understand the text as a whole and it is easier to find the main idea of ​​the text. Based on the results and discussion, the researcher can conclude that using Story Face through videoscribe is effective and can improve students' reading ability.
