People are often get miscommunication because of different understanding about the meaning. If the hearer knows the context, the meaning of language can be understood clearly. Deixis is a study of reference which helps people in understanding the reference of the word. This research entitled A DEIXIS ANALYSIS OF LYDIA MACHOVA‘S TALK ENTITLED "THE SECRETS OF LEARNING A NEW LANGUAGE” ON TED focused on analyzing the deixis used in the talk show video of Lydia Machova. The aims of this research are to describe the deixis used and to understand the reference of deictic expression. The data were taken from the Video of Lydia Machova on TED and analysed by the theory of Stephen C. Levinson. The method of the research is descriptive-qualitative. The result shows that there are 126 utterances and 265 deictic words found. Based on the data there are four types of deixis analyzed. Those are 204 person deixis, 30 time deixis, 7 place deixis, and 18 discourse deixis. In this research, the researcher did not find any social deixis. It is because in the videos did not shows any conversation that identified social relationship.
