Abstract

This thesis is entitled Improving Students’ Speaking Skill Through Picture Strips Story (A Classroom Action Research at the Eleventh Grade Students of MA Al Faizin Bangsri in the Academic Year of 2020/2021. The objective of this research was to find out the implementation of Picture Strips Story to improve students’ speaking skill at the eleventh grade students of MA Al Faizin Guyangan Bangsri, and also to know the improvement of students’ speaking skill at the eleventh grade students of MA Al Faizin by using picture strip story. This research was applied through classroom action research. This research was carried out at the eleventh grade students of MA Al Faizin Bangsri. The class consisted of 23 students, 9 boys, and 14 girls. This research was conducted in four cycles, each cycle consisted of these activities; planning, action and observation, then reflection. The data of the research were collected by using some techniques including observation, interview and test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used qualitative data and quantitative data. The qualitative were analyzed using data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion. The quantitative data were analyzed by comparing the mean of the pre-test and post-test score.Based on mean score result of the research, it showed that picture strips story can improve the students’ speaking skill. The mean score of pre-test was 39,1 and it improved in post-test 1 became 44,3. The post-test 2 was 54,1, post-test 3 was 70,2 and it also increased in pot-test 4 became 75,2. All of the students passed the minimum mastery criterion (KKM). It can be concluded that the picture strips story can improve the students’ speaking skill. The classroom condition became more active in teaching-learning process, because the students enjoyed and interested during the lesson.
