This research is focused on speaking activities according to Harmer’s theory on the textbook entitled Bahasa Inggris Think Globally Act Locally design for ninth grade of junior high school revised edition of curriculum 2018. This research is to find out the kinds of speaking activities in the textbook and to know the dominant of speaking activities in the textbook. The method used descriptive qualitative. In this research, the researcher used observation checklist sheet according to Yosefiana, et al., to collecting the data. As the results of data analysis, the first is kinds of speaking activities that found in English textbook based on theory Harmer there are acting from script, communication games, discussions, prepared talk, questionnaires, and simulation and role play. For the dominant of speaking activities that found in the textbook there is prepared talk which has eighteen times, and the other speaking activities acting from script has two times, communication games has four times, discussions has five times, questionnaires has four times, and simulation and role play has ten times. In conclusion, Harmer’s theory of speaking activities in the textbook has included all kinds of speaking activities. The last but not least, textbook has its disadvantages and advantages so, none of the textbooks are perfect.
