Communication is a tool to interact with other and to send messages from speaker to interlocutor. Errors in communication often occur due to several reason such as listener who fails to catch the intent of the speaker. That is why presupposition is needed in communication. From the explanation above, the aims of this study are to know the types of presupposition in Luca movie script and to know the dominant type of presupposition in that movie script.
The design of this research is qualitative descriptive method using document analysis technique. This research is focus on presuppositions in Luca movie script. To collect the data, the method used to collect the data are: observation, giving a sign, make a table, and validate the data. The instrument used to load the data is checklist form. The method to analyze the data are data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion.
The result of this study, there are six types presupposition found by author. there were 291 data found which divided into six types according to Yule’s theory with total 145 data for existential presupposition (49,8 %), 27 data for factual presupposition (9,3 %), 28 data for lexical presupposition (9,6 %), 53 data for structural presupposition (18,2 %), 20 data non-factual presupposition (6,9 %), and 18 data for counterfactual presupposition (6,2 %). The dominant types of presupposition in Luca movie script is existential presupposition with total 145 utterances (49,8 %) from total data. Based on the result, the author hopes in the future, there will be another researcher who interest to conduct a study about presupposition with different object or fields. And for the reader, the author hopes this research can help the readers to improve their knowledge about pragmatics especially about presupposition
