Abstract
This thesis is entitled “An Analysis of Illocutionary Acts in “The First Grader” Movie”. The objections of this study are to identify the type of illocutionary act, to analyze the meaning of illocutionary act and to explain the dominant type of illocutionary act. The writer used descriptive – qualitative method to analyze the movie which needed to be analyzed by words since the aim of this study is to find the type, meaning and dominant of illocutionary act. By describing means, the writer describes, explains, and analyzed the data with the theories taken up, and finally takes some conclusion. Based on the analysis that has been done, there are two hundred thirty five data of illocutionary acts are found in “The First Grader” Movie, those are: thirty two data of representatives, forty four data of Expressive, one hundred seven data of directives, five data of declaration, and forty seven data of commisives. From the result the writer found that the most dominant types of illocutionary act is directives.
