Abstract
This research is aimed at finding out whether music videos is effective or not in improving students’ English Pronunciation. This was a quasi-experimental research conducted at MTs Maftahul Falah Sinanggul Mlonggo Jepara. In this design, the experimental group and the control group is not chosen at random. But, both the experimental and control group are compared. Populations were the eighth grade students of MTs. Maftahul Falah, Mlonggo, Jepara which consisted of 65 students with the amount 31 students of VIII A as the experimental group and the amount 34 students of VIII B as the control group which be consists of female and male students. The data collected of two groups were given pretest, treatment and posttest.
The findings of the research showed that there was a significant difference in improved students’ English pronunciation of the eighth grade students of junior high school taught by music videos and who were not taught by music videos. The score indicated that there were improvements from the result of the students’ pre test and post test. The mean of pretest experimental class 65,48 was higher than the mean of pre test of control class which was 58,26. Then mean of the experimental class post test 79,10 was higher than the control class post test which was 78,74. The analysis showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Therefore, the hypothesis “there was a effective different between students who were taught by using music videos in English pronunciation than students who were not taught by using music videos” was accepted.
