Abstract
This thesis is entitled The Effectiveness of Talking Chips Technique to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill (An Experimental Study at the Eight Grade of MTs. Sunan Muria Keling in the Academic Year 2018/2019). This study directs to find the effectiveness of talking chips technique to improve students’ speaking skill.
The researcher used experimental research-quantitative method during the research since the aim of this study is to find out the the effectiveness of talking chips technique to improve students’ speaking skill. the subject of the research was 60 students of the eight grade of MTs. Sunan Muria Keling. The researcher divided the class in two classed in controlled class for (VIII A) and experimental class (VIII B). Based on the analysis that has been done, the researcher found that the mean of variable X (Controlled Class) is 1.46 and the mean of variable Y (Experimental Class) is 4.9. the result of the reserach shows that there is a significant of the students’ speaking skill by using “talking chips” technique. It can be seen from T test calculation is 13.76 T table with N = 60 is 2.00 at the degree of significance 5% and 2,65 at the degree of significance 1 %. Also the increasing students’ mean score from pre-test to post-test . The increasing of mean score of pre-test to post-test from 49.37 to 54.34. Indicates that by applying “talking chips” technique, students’ speaking skill can be improved.
