Abstract

This final project is entitled The Effectiveness of Think-Pair-Share Technique to Enhance Students’ Reading Comprehension (An Experimental Research at the Eleventh Grade Students’ of MA Al-Faizin Guyangan in the Academic Year of 2018/2019). The objective of this study is to find out whether there is any significant difference between the students who taught by using think-pair-share technique and students who are taught without using think-pair-share technique. This research was held in August-September 2018 at MA Al-faizin Guyangan. This study is an experimental research, with experimental class (XI-A) and control class (XI-B). The writer used pre-test and post-test to measure the students’ achievement. The writer used Simple Randomly Sampling to analyze the data. In analyzing the data, the writer used quantitative measurement to find the result. The analysis of the data showed that there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement between experimental and control class. The average of the students’ pre-test is 58.4 in experimental class and 47 in control class. After getting treatment using think-pair-share technique, the average score of post-test in experimental was higher than control class, 82.4 for experimental class and 51.4 for control class. To measure the significant achievement of the students, the writer used t-test formula also. The result of calculation showed that the t-test > t-table. The writer used significant value 5% (1.734) and 1% (2.552). The value of t-test was 7.094. Based on the result above, it could be concluded that the think-pair-share technique was effective to improving the students’ reading comprehension at the eleventh grade students of MA Al-faizin Guyangan.
