Abstract

The purpose of this study is to get empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using jigsaw technique on the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. This study was held in August at SMA N Nalumsari Jepara. The method used in this study was quantitative method in the design of quasi experimental study. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster sampling. Two classes were taken as the subjects of this study namely experimental class and control class. The data got from both experimental class and controlled class that were analyzed by using T-test formula. The result of calculation showed that in the significance degree of 5%, the value of t-test (to)>t-table (tt) (0,2116 > 0,2021). According to the criteria of the test, the result showed that there is a significance difference between students’ achievement in reading comprehension of narrative text by using Jigsaw technique and without Jigsaw technique. It means that Jigsaw technique is effective and applicable at the eleventh grade students of social science class at SMA N Nalumsari Jepara towards students’ reading comprehension of narrative text.
