Abstract

The research was conducted in SMP N 1 Pakis Aji Jepara at Eighth grade students. The research would like to examine the students improvement in teaching speaking by using Talking Chips Teachnique. the objective of the reseach is: The objective of the research is to examine the differences in speaking ability of students who are taught by using Talking Chips technique and those who are not. There were some students’ problems that the reseacher found. The problems were about students’ ability in mastering aspect of speaking and also caming from students’. Based on the statistical calculation at the previous chapter, there is significant difference between teaching speaking by using talking chips and without using talking chips. The result of shows that the value of t-test (3.085) is higher than ttable (1.669) at the significant level 5%. It means that Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. However, it can be concluded that Talking Chips technique is effective in teaching speking at eighth grade students of junior high school. It conclude that using Talking Chips technique can improve the students speaking ability at eighth grade of SMP N 1 Pakis Aji Jepara.
