Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out kinds of grammatical errors made by tenth grade of students in writing recount text, and also to find out the most dominant errors made by tenth grade of students in writing recount text. The researcher used the descriptive qualitative research design. Techniques of collecting the data used documentation. The researcher asked students to write recount text, after that, the researcher analyzed the student’s worksheet about the grammatical errors made by students. The researcher focus on kinds of grammatical errors made by the students and the most dominant grammatical errors made by the students. The result of this study shows that kinds of grammatical errors made by the students are 15% in omission, 60.6% in addition, 13% in misinformation, 6% in misordering and 5.5% in blends. The most dominant error is in addition error. The students were made the errors in three categories in addition error. The first category is 68% in regularization error. The second category is 15% in double marking error. The third category is 17% in simple addition error.
