Abstract

Many students feel writing is difficult skill because they could not start their words well on their writing. They could not arrange the sentences well related to the topic, so the researcher conducted a research which focused on writing skill. This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of storyboard in teaching writing of recount text was at tenth grade of MA Mathalibul Huda Mlonggo in the academic year of 2018/2019. This research focused on the improving students’ writing skill through storyboard with the research subject of 70 students.The researcher used experimental reserach on this research. There were two classes in this reserach which divided into two groups, those are experimental group and control group. Experimental group was a group that the researcher gave treatment through storyboard. Control group was a group that the researcher did not give a treatment trough storyboard. In collecting the data, the research used a post test to the sudents in each groups and used a test as the instruments of this research. Based on the data analysis, the result of this reseach showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the Null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It has proven by the data calculation manually and statitically. The mean score of the experimental group was (84,71) and the mean score of the control group was (46,86). It meant that the experimental group had higher score than control group. The result of the to post test of both group was (17,769), df was (68) in the significance level of 0,05, so the ttable was 2,000. Therefore, storyboard is effective in teaching writing in order to improve students’ writing skill because to ≥ ttable.
