Abstract

This final project is entitled The Effectiveness of Quantum Method in Improving Students’ Speaking Ability (A True Experimental Research on the Fifth Grade Students of SD N Puncel 03 in the Academic Year of 2018/2019). The objective of this study is to find out whether there is any significant difference between the students’ speaking ability who taught by using Quantum method and the students who are taught without using Quantum method. This research was held in May 2019 at SD N Puncel 03. This study is a true experimental research, in experimental class (5A) and control class (5B). the researcher used pre-test and post-test to measure the students’ achievement. The researcher Random Sampling to take the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used quantitative measurement to find the result. The analysis of the data showed that there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement between experimental class and control class. The average of the students’ pre-test was 52,0588 in experimental class and 55,0667 control class. After getting treatment using Quantum method, the average score of post-test in experimental was higher than control class 91,6471 for experimental class and 85,1333 for control class. To measure the significant achievement of the students, the writer also used t-test formula. The result of post-test in experimental group and control group showed that the t-value was 3,071 while t -table of 0,05 as the significance level was 2,042 with 30 the degree of freedom (df). It could be described that the t-value (3,071) > t-table (2,042). Based on the result above, it could be concluded that the Quantum method was effective in improving the students’ speaking ability at the fifth grade students of SD N Puncel 03 in the academic year of 2018/2091.
