Abstract

This final project is a true experimental research to answer the question “Is it effective to use Gallery Walk Technique in enhancing students’ narrative text writing?”. In this research the subjects of the study were the tenth grade students of MA Matholi’ul Huda Bugel in the academic year of 2018/2109. There were two groups used in the research; the experimental and the control group. The two groups were given different treatments. The experimental group was taught by using gallery walk technique while the control group was taugh without using gallery walk technique. The researcher used essay test to gather the data. The objective of this research was to find out the effectiveness of students’narrative text writing ability enhancement by using Gallery Walk Technique. To achive the objective of the study, a quantitative method was used. The result of the research showed that the mean score of pretest from the two groups were nearly the same. The mean score of pretest for the experimental group was 70.3, and the mean of score of pretest for the control group was 66.1. The slight difference between the two groups indicated that the two groups were homogeneous. After both, the experimental and control groups were given the different treatments, the score of the two groups increased. The mean score of post-test for the experimental group was 92.7 and for the control group was 77.3. The result from the t-test calculation of posttest in experimental and control group using SPSS 25.0 version above, t0 was 8.181. The degree freedom (df) was 64 and the level of significant 0.05.The value of ttablewas 2.000. So, 8.181 higher than 2.000 it could be concluded that, t0 > ttable(8.181 > 2.000) t0 was higher than ttable. It meant gallery walk technique can enhance the students’ narrative text writing. The conclusion taken from the research is that the use of gallery walk technique gives contribution in narrative text writing to the tenth grade students of MA Matholi’ul huda Bugel. Finally the researcher suggests to the teachers that they should use gallery walk technique as one of method in teaching narrative text.
