Abstract
This research is a study of interpersonal meaning in the script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”. The background of this research is the interpersonal meaning analysis which is used in the script movie. Movie give us entertaining and give us many information. In order that, this research analysis about interaction between speakers and listener. And about exchanging information between giving and demanding information. The objective of the research is: (1) to find out interpersonal meaning realized in the script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”. (2) to find out dominant MOOD realized in the script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”. This research is categorized as qualitative research since it just collect the data and draws conclusion based on the data. The object of the research are script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”. The resources of the data are the written data in the script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”. The data is gotten by collecting and identifying the script movie. As the result of analysis of the data, the writer draws some conclusions that are based on the interpersonal meaning. They are (1) the interpersonal meanings in the script movie are identified from the wordings of the clauses based on the elements of interpersonal meaning such as Subject, Finite, Predicator, Complement and Adjunct. (2) there are 367 declarative mood, 65 interrogative mood and 44 imperative mood. The dominant mood in the script movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village” is declarative mood. Finally, the writer propose some suggestions to the readers, scholar, and new researcher who are studying language especially English and the English teacher to know more about interpersonal meaning as part of functional grammar which is important to understand some discourse. The research also proposes suggestions to the next researcher to research this subject more.
