Abstract

This study aims to describe teacher techniques in teaching reading comprehension used by English teachers at MTS Mathalibul Huda Mlonggo Jepara. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research, especially studies in analyzing data. Data collection methods in this study were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Observations were made in the classroom during the teaching and learning process to find out what techniques were used by the teacher, how the students responded when the teacher used the technique, what supporting and inhibiting factors were experienced by the teacher in using the technique. Then interviews were conducted to ascertain what techniques were used by the teacher and the supporting and inhibiting factors. After that, the researcher gave a questionnaire to the students to find out the students' perception of the technique used by the teacher. The purposes of this study were analyzed: (1) to find out the techniques used by teachers in teaching reading comprehension in the eighth grade at MTs Mathalibul Huda Mlonggo Jepara, (2) to find out the supporters and barriers to the application of reading techniques. used by students. teacher in teaching reading. The results of this study indicate that teachers at MTs Mathalibul Huda Mlonggo Jepara use the SQ3R and Reading Aloud techniques in learning to read comprehension, as can be seen from the very good student responses when the teacher uses these techniques.
