Abstract
The focus of this research is on the speaking material section because speaking is a productive ability that requires students to practice in order to be able to convey messages / information to the other person. This study discusses the quality of the speaking material in the textbook entitled "English". The research method used is descriptive qualitative and limiting the amount of data using random sampling method. After the data was collected, we compared the data with the criteria table for good speaking material. The instrument used in this study is the statement table. The results of the research on the quality of speaking material in the textbook entitled "English" for class X published by the Center for Curriculum and Books, Balitbang, Ministry of Education and Culture, are "Good" where the speaking material in the textbook is relevant to the criteria for good speaking material.
