Classroom interaction is important for teacher and students to create a lively atmosphere as students have more participation so that they can improve their language ability. Therefore, this research was aimed to find out verbal classroom interaction and the dominant interaction occurred at English Education Study Program of Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama Jepara. The verbal contact between the teacher and the students in the classroom was studied using a qualitative study method. As subjects for this study, the researcher chose a lecturer and 17 students of Theories and Principle in TESOL Class based on the lecturer’s recommendation. The researcher used observation and recording to collect data. The Flanders Interaction Analysis Category System was used to identify and analyze teacher and student talk in classroom verbal interaction. The findings of this study revealed that the verbal interaction in Theories and Principle in TESOL Class was going well because the teacher was able to manage the interaction and make it more interactive by frequently asking the students and receiving responses. The categories that occurred in the classroom were identified by the researcher. There were accepts students' feelings, praises or encourages them, and accepts their ideas in the indirect teacher category. Direct teacher talk included asking questions, lecturing, giving directions, and criticizing or justifying authority. There was student talk response, student talk initiation, and silence or confusion in student talk. Despite the fact that the class was interactive, teacher talk dominated in classroom verbal interaction. Approximately, 60% was the percentage of teacher talk, 39% of student talk, and 1.1% of silence.
