Abstract

This thesis entitled The Effect of Diary Writing Through Instagram towards Students’ Writing Skill on Recount Text in the Tenth Grade Students of MA Darul Ulum Purwogondo. The objective of the research was to find out the effect of diary writing through instagram towards students’ writing skill on recount text in the tenth grade students of MA Darul Ulum Purwogondo taught with and without diary writing through instagram. True experimental design was used by the researcher with pretest and posttest control group while the way to obtain the sample of this research used simple random sampling. The sample of this research was from two classes and each class consisted of 22 students. The two clasess were X IPS 1 as an experimental class and X Agama as control class. SPSS was used to analyse the data while the way to obtain the data through pre-test and post-test. Based on the result of t-test statistics, the score of t-observe was 2.426 and for the df was 42. The result of comparison between t-observe and t-table was 2.426>2.018. The final result is H_o is rejected and H_a is accepted which means that there was a difference mean score in this research. It could be summed up that diary writing through instagram is effective for the students’ writing skill on recount.
