Abstract

Endophora is coreference of an expression with another expression either before it or after it. One expression provides the information necessary to interpret the other. We can find mostly Endophora in spoken language. One of spoken language we can use as the medium in learning Endophora is monologue video script. One of many great monologue video scripts is TED-Ed’s that are entitled : At What Moment Are You Dead, The Hidden Meaning of Yin and Yang, Human Sperm vs Sperm Whale. This research is qualitative research since it analyzes Endophora in the three video clips of TED-Ed’s. I take Endophora found in three video clips of TED-Ed’s as the data of the research and the monologue speaker script as the data source. The result of the research shows there are two types of Endophora found in the three video clips of TED-Ed’s. That they are Anaphora with 51 items, and Cataphora with only 2 items. The most dominant type is Anaphora. It means that people in having conversation/monologue usually speak and mention the same thing by referring back to pronoun repeatedly in the conversation/utterance. From this research, I hope the readers, lecturers and students should apply Endophora appropriately in their daily conversation in order to avoid misunderstanding in the conversation since Endophora appears mostly in the daily conversation.
