Abstract

The objective of this research is to find the effectiveness of using DK Readers as alternative media to improve students’ reading comprehension at eighth grade of MTs. Sunan Muria Kelet in the academic year of 2017/2018. The subject in this research were 40 students.
In this research, experimental research was used as a method. The research was conducted into two group. There are the experimental group and control group. The experimental group was students who taught through DK Readers, while the control group was students who were not taught through DK Readers. The data were gathered through the test, there were pre-test and post-test.
The result of this research showed that DK Readers gave significant improvement on students’ reading comprehension. The result shows at the significant level 5% that the value of t-test = 2.63 is higher than ttable = 2.02. It means that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In short, DK Readers as alternative media is effective to improve reading comprehension at eighth grade of MTs. Sunan Muria Kelet.
