Abstract

This final project is entitled The Teacher’s Ability in Conducting 2013 Curriculum for Teaching Speaking (A Descriptive Study of 8th Grade English Teachers of MTs. Hasyim Asy’ari Bangsri in The Academic Year of 2018/2019). The study aims to reveal the two issues. First, the teaching learning process. Second, the supporting factors and obtacles in teaching learning. The study used descriptive qualitative research approach. The subjects were English Teachers of 8th grade who were taught by the teachers in conducting 2013 curriculum for teaching speaking. Data were collected by using interview, observation, documentation. The data were analyzed using a model developed by Miles and Huberman, which includes four main activities, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Result of the study are as follows. First, the 2013 curriculum implementation of teaching learning process using scientific approach has been done well. Teachers have take 5M and acted as a facilitator so that students are actively involved in learning. The teachers mostly use lecturing, discussion and question and answer in the learning process. Second, the supporting factors in conducting 2013 curriculum are the government prepares all components of the curriculum until the textbook and discussion guidelines are available. Then, the book and completeness of the document are prepared in full. Next, the obstacles of the teachers still get difficulty in choosing the right method and making the right instrument of authentic assessment that will cooperate teaching learning and to support the success of core and basic competence interpretation in the learning process. Then, limited infrastructure or media.
