Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the effectiveness of the combination of Think Talk Write (TTW) and Mind Mapping Method in improving students’ writing skill in recount text of biography of tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Tahunan Jepara in the academic year 2018 / 2019. This research could help the English teachers to improve their strategy and method in teaching writing especially in teaching recount text of biography. This research was a true experimental study which belongs to pretest and posttest control group design. This research involved two groups, one group treated as the experimental group and other group treated as the control group. In the experimental group, the researcher applied the combination of Think Talk Write (TTW) and mind mapping method, while in control group, the researcher applied discussion method. the population of this research was all of the students of tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Tahunan Jepara. the sample of this reserach was 70 students which taken by using simple random sampling, X MIPA 5 consisted of 35 students as the experimental group and X MIPA 6 consisted of 35 students as the control group. The result of the research showed that there was a significant difference between the score of posttest students’ of experimental and control group. In the experimental group, the result of posttest was 71,65 and the result of posttest in control group was 60,6.
